Australia: Cairns - Courtyard Great Barrier Reef Resort, Palm
Cove
TravelPage.com Rating:
Located approximately 20 minutes North from of downtown Cairns,
this is one of the few hotels in the area located directly on a sandy beach
which is ideal for long walks or runs. While Cairns is a great jumping off
point for trips to the Great Barrier Reef, there really isn't much of a beach in
town so if you want to take in the sun and surf we recommend staying here and
catching the courtesy shuttle into town when you need to. Service is fine but
nothing special. It's the hotel's location and surrounding area that really
makes this a nice place to stay. The enormous free-form swimming pool is one of
the largest ever and is an ideal place to get in a few laps or relax by with a
good book. The regularly scheduled barbecues by the pool with local
entertainment are a lot of fun.
There are 180 rooms and 4 guest suites. As mentioned
above, the pool is great. There are also two restaurants, two bars and tennis
courts. While staying here, make sure you take a trip out to the reef
especially if you can get onto one of the 120 foot catamarans. There are also a
few very nice golf courses nearby.
Room prices range from around $100 per night to well
over $225 depending on season and location. Amex, accepted.
